DexThemes for DeepSeek: 100+ Themes Inside DeepSeek

DexThemes for DeepSeek is an open-source plugin that brings more than 100 paired themes, light and dark preview, chat-based creation, and explicit Apply and Revert controls into DeepSeek Harness.

DeepSeek Harness is DeepSeek's new open-source, developer-preview coding agent. DexThemes for DeepSeek brings the theme experience into its plugin settings, so choosing a new look does not require leaving the app or editing Harness source.

The published package is @dexthemes/deepseek-harness-plugin on npm. It is free and open source. DexThemes is an unofficial community project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by DeepSeek.

Choose from more than 100 themes

Open Settings → Plugins → DexThemes to browse DeepSeek, DexThemes, and community themes in one place. The installed catalog works offline, while the connected public catalog can add current community releases.

Every compatible theme is a real light-and-dark pair. Open its preview to see both modes side by side or focus on either variant before applying it. The preview uses the same semantic palette roles that the plugin prepares for DeepSeek, making it easier to compare surfaces, text, accents, code backgrounds, and diff colors as a complete system.

Create a fresh palette in chat

DexThemes also connects its bounded public theme tools to chat. Ask for a specific direction, or try Color me lucky to generate a fresh paired palette. You can inspect and validate the result before deciding whether it belongs in your interface.

DeepSeek's Standard mode can discover, search, draft, validate, and preview. Choose Creator mode only when you want chat to prepare and explicitly apply a reversible theme package. The connector sends only the selected tool name and arguments; it does not attach your conversation, workspace, files, credentials, or account session.

Apply in one click and revert on purpose

Choose Apply to DeepSeek when a theme feels right. The plugin asks DeepSeek's supported theme service to add a DexThemes-owned theme layer. Applying another theme replaces that same layer instead of stacking changes across the app.

Choose Revert to dispose the DexThemes layer and return appearance control to DeepSeek. That is a real runtime transition, not a copied approximation of the default palette. Applying and reverting are always visible user actions; the standalone DexThemes website cannot silently recolor an unrelated DeepSeek tab.

Install the published package

From a DeepSeek Harness checkout, install the current published version and start the web profile:

pnpm dsh plugin --profile web add @dexthemes/deepseek-harness-plugin@0.6.4
pnpm dsh web

After DeepSeek starts, refresh its browser tab once so the client package enters the boot graph, then open Settings → Plugins → DexThemes.

Version 0.6.4 is the currently published npm release. It was exercised from the exact registry artifact against the documented compatible DeepSeek Harness build for discovery, paired preview, Apply, restart restoration, Revert, offline fallback, optional GitHub connection, connected activity acknowledgement, and Creator-mode chat Apply and Stop. DeepSeek Harness is moving quickly, so treat the plugin version and documented host build as a tested pair rather than a blanket compatibility promise.

Sign in only if you want account features

Browsing, previewing, chat creation, Apply, and Revert do not require a DexThemes account. Sign-in is optional and adds creator stats, achievements, and unlocked reward themes.

The installed plugin uses GitHub Device Flow through the DexThemes Connect application. GitHub verifies the user, while the plugin receives a short-lived, separately scoped DexThemes session rather than a GitHub token. That credential stays out of prompts, URLs, browser storage, analytics, workspaces, and Harness configuration.

Install the published DexThemes package on npm, choose a paired theme, and make DeepSeek yours.
